How to use illustrator to neaten the edges of a scanned image?

I am very good at using photoshop but when it comes to illustrator I really have no idea. I have hand drawn some typography and have scanned it in to the computer and intend to add it to my poster design in photoshop but the edges are not quite perfect! I have hand drawn on illustrator before and know it creates smooth lines and was wondering if there is a way to smooth the edges of my scan without having to use the paintbrush tool ( the only thing I can use on illustrator) do you know of any tutorials or can you explain.

Please help, _____________ A: Adobe Illustrator is a vector designing tool, if you have typographic design as drawing on paper, and use Illustrator to scan and edit, you can both trace bitmap image to convert to vector lines, or manually re draw lines with pen/ path tool, If text is hand designed, it may be best to re draw lines manually , and adjust anchors accordingly to design wanted, if they text is typed or as font typeset design, you could use actual font to spell text and convert to outlines, then reshape lines to fit design, pen path tools http://help.adobe.com/en_US/illustrator/cs/using/WS3f28b00cc50711d9-2cf89fa2133b344d448-8000.html fill and stroke http://help.adobe.com/en_US/illustrator/cs/using/WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d0100196cbc5f-6519a.html http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/topics.html ..

How to make good online illustrations?

I need to make some marshmallow illustrations for my website. Any ideas?

Answer:
Get a Bamboo tablet and draw up some ideas of marshmallows. I'd say make them eating humans for a comical and inverted twist on the view of a marshmallow.

How to remove pencil marks from glossy paper?

You know that poster papers have a glossy side? Is there an effective way to remove the pencil marks without really smudging it?

Answer:
try using blue tack rolling over it. should just pick up the graphite (work best warm) and not leave smudges behind. wont be as effective especially with hard pencil marks as a rubber but there you go.

How to you reduce white spots in drawings when you are blending?

I've seen a couple of blending tutorials. I know that a toritillon or blending stump would do the trick. But there are still some white spots that make the drawing look a bit rough from up close. Any ideas, would cross-hatching blending work?
I use a mixture of charocal and graphite. But more white spots appear while using graphite.

Answer:
Did you start shading the drawing with the lightest pencil, such as a 6H or 5H and slowly make your way down the H pencils and up the B pencils? Most white spots or uneven shading can be caused by lack of lighter graphite underneath the darker. When I draw and shade I have learned that the drawing comes out a LOT nicer if you start with the lightest pencil and then blend after each layer of pencil to evenly distribute the graphite. And remember to do many many layers of each variation of pencil (the 6H being the lightest and the 6B being the darkest) you don't want to start with say an HB or say do only 1 layer of each pencil. Do at least 4 or 5 layers of each pencil. This will also help prevent shine in your drawing. I have also used graphite and charcoal together, and usually do all my graphite areas first and then progress to the charcoal, which I will mainly only use for the really dark parts, or just to give it a more rough look. Hope this helps :)

How to get my drawings to people?

I've been drawing since I can remember and people always told me I was talented, so I decided to take it further and draw portraits of other people for money. The problem is, I'm still in middle school and I have people from other schools asking me to draw pictures for them. I have no idea how to get their pictures to them, or how they'd be able to pay me if I mailed it to them or something. Could anyone give me some ideas?

Answer:
Go to Amzon.com Post all the pictures online and the customers get to pay before you deliver the products.

How to learn drawing like david finch at home?

Answer:
You could get a how to draw comics book for about $20 or you could try to copy his work to get a feel of how it's constructed. A general knowledge of how to draw human anatomy will help a lot too. It's manly just practice though.

How to split a canvas board into two different parts without it looking weird?

I painted a large quote on this canvas board that I bought. The only problem is, is that the quote didn't take up as much room as I thought. Now i have this quote painted at the top of the canvas, and all of this space at the bottom of the canvas. I want to paint another quote on the bottom space, but I don't want it to go with the other quote on top, or people to think it the two quotes go together. How should i separate this canvas board so my quotes don't look choppy or weird? Thanks so much!

Answer:
The canvas is stretched using stretcher bars. Dissemble the frame by carefully removing the staples. Then you can just chop the frame and cut the canvas then stretch the canvas again over the shortened frame using a staple gun. http://www.theartistsdepot.com/HDStapleGun.htm
